NORD Holding Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, Hanover, has sold its subsidiary WEMAS Absperrtechnik GmbH, Gütersloh, to Gimv, along with the subsidiary's management team. The execution of the transaction is still subject to approval by the cartel authorities.

WEMAS is a market leader in the German-speaking countries in passive traffic engineering. Due to a high depth of added value and a strong service competence, the company was able to expand its market position significantly in recent years and increase its international activities. Sales are predominantly by specialist dealers and to road safety companies. WEMAS has 120 employees at the company headquarters in Gütersloh, and achieved a turnover of € 33.7 million in the past financial year.

NORD Holding acquired a majority interest in WEMAS in 2011, as part of a succession solution. Key milestones were the successful development of a management team, improvement of operational performance, as well as innovations in products, processes, and services.

"NORD Holding was always committed and competent partner for us, which has reliably supported us in the achievement of common goals", recalls Markus Schwinn, CEO of WEMAS, of their very successful cooperation. "We are glad to have a new partner now in Gimv, with which we can achieve further growth", said Schwinn.

About NORD Holding:
With a history going back 48 years, NORD Holding is one of the leading equity investors for the upper midsize market. Its activities focus on structuring and financing company succession models, the takeover of parts or subsidiaries of corporate groups, and expansion financing of mid-sized companies.

Investors in NORD Holding are several north German savings banks (Sparkassen), insurance companies and occupational pension plans. This enables its affiliated companies to develop without any external time pressure and to exploit their growth potential.

The company currently has commitments in over 25 companies in Germany and the broader German-speaking region. Via its umbrella funds divisions, NORD Holding has also invested € 500 m in other affiliated companies, thus offering its partners an international network.
